The Cajun Prairie Habitat Preservation Society is to meet beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday for a tour of the Duralde Restored Prairie followed by a tour of the restored prairie at Eunice at 10 a.m.
Lunch will be at noon at Rocky’s Restaurant located at 1415 E. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
Lunch will include the Society’s meeting and Matthew Herron, a biologist with Baton Rouge’s BREC park system, to speak on Southeastern Prairies: Origins, Ecology and Conservation. The talk will review some of the geology and biogeography surrounding southeastern prairies, aiming to frame Cajun Prairies within the broader landscape of the rich southeastern flora.
There will be a native plant and prairie seed auction at the end of the meeting. Bring donated potted native plants and your checkbook.
