\After speaking with the village’s certified public accountant, Vic Slaven, Chataignier Mayor Justin Darbonne told the village council Monday night the village is not paying its officers according to a previously adopted ordinance.
Currently, the officers are getting paid $300 a month, however, the ordinance states officers should be paid $400 per month.
“We need to follow the ordinance, and we have to follow the ordinance that was passed,” Darbonne said. “That’s going to have to change.”
The mayor also reported the village will be applying for the maximum $25,000 from the Louisiana Government Assistance Program (LGAP) to purchase a side mower for the tractor.
In other business, the council voted to change the November meeting date to Nov. 25 and discussed the repair quote to the village tractor.
