Chataignier Mayor Justin Darbonne announced at a village council meeting the village has been approved for $23,671.00 from the state’s Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP). The mayor said the money is the most the village has received from the program.
Darbonne plans to use the money to purchase two brand new bush hogs for the village tractor because the money has to be spent on equipment or things dealing with the tractor.
If any funds are remaining after the purchase of the bush hogs, the mayor would like to “put gravel in the shed to keep our brand new equipment out of the mud.”
In other business on Aug. 17, the council:
— Tabled the amended ordinance regarding the sale of the Gula Miller property and set a public hearing at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 21;
— Signed off on a resolution for CARES Act funding; and
— Discussed a proposed community cleanup and changes to the credit/debit card fee.
