A special meeting of the Crowley City Council will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, to amend the budget for the last fiscal year.
State law mandates that, in the final budget for a governmental entity, “projected” figures and “actual” figures must be within plus-or-minus 5 percent.
The City of Crowley’s budget year runs annually from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31. It is not uncommon for governmental entities to, as the budget year winds down, amend the “projected” budget figures to fall more in line with what was actually spend in a particular line item during the year.
Though a final agenda for the Tuesday meeting has not yet been distributed (by state law it must be finalized and made public at least 24 hours prior to the meeting), the council is expected only to hold a public hearing on the proposed amendments, then adopt said amendments.
The meeting, to be held in the City Council Chambers at 126 N. Avenue F, is open to the general public and all interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
