The city of Eunice is still waiting for a federal disaster declaration that would help it pay for expenses incurred due to Hurricane Laura.
Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot said the declaration was made to help individuals with FEMA assistance.
Fontenot estimates the city crews have removed about 12,000 cubic yards of tree debris left after Hurricane Laura struck on Aug. 27.
But the city crews have made one complete sweep through the city, he said.
Fontenot said the first sweep probably got only half of the debris in the city.
On top the debris situation, Fontenot noted there is another storm in the Gulf of Mexico.
