Heather Cloud is the new state senator for Senate District 28. The Ville Platte Republican replaces former Sen. Eric LaFleur.
Cloud was one of 20 new members sworn in during an organizational session of the Senate at the State Capitol in Baton Rouge Monday.
Cloud said, “I am humbled to have the privilege of serving District 28 in the state senate. I am confident that working together, with bold leadership, we will do great things. Louisiana is too good to be last and I’m committed to fighting for a better Louisiana for all of our families.”
Cloud places a priority on job creation and protection and easing burdensome government regulations. She also plans to focus on improving local infrastructure and investing in local and technical schools.
Cloud is a former educator and small business owner. She served as the mayor of Turkey Creek for nearly eight years and as the president of the Evangeline Parish Tax Commission from 2011 to 2018. She and her husband, Jody, reside in Evangeline Parish with their two sons.
