DA race candidates raise about $400K

The race for 27th Judicial District district attorney is the only parishwide election on the Nov. 3 ballot and the candidates combined have raised nearly $400,000 and spent nearly $250,000.
Campaign finance reports for the Eunice Ward 6 city marshal’s election are on the Louisiana Board of Ethics website along with the latest filings from the candidates for St. Landry Parish 27th Judicial District district attorney’s race for Tuesday’s election.
The race for 27th Judicial District district attorney is the only parishwide election on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Cravins is running as the incumbent having been appointed by Earl Taylor, who retired in February after 23 years in office.
Cravins reports total receipts of $234,373.74 and Pitre’s receipts total $162,413.06.
Cravins has disbursements totaling $150,283.98. Pitre’s disbursements total $104,196.44.
In the district attorney election, Cravins’ 10-day report lists receipts of $13,107.50 and disbursements of $111,010.93.
Candidate Chad Pitre’s 10-day report lists receipts of $56,183.40 and disbursements of $19,338.56.
In Cravins’ 30-day report filed in September, he listed receipts of $221.266.24 and disbursements of $39,273.05.
Pitre’s 30-day report, also filed in September, listed receipts of $106,230.06 and disbursements of $84,857.88.
There are three candidates for Ward 6 marshal, incumbent Terry Darbonne, and challengers Marcus Bergeron and Gerald Watley.
The Eunice News published a report on campaign finances on Oct. 4, but those reports were unavailable for that article.
Candidates are to file reports 30 and 10 days before the election.

Darbonne’s total receipts are listed at $10,560, which includes a $500 personal loan. Expenditures were $5,591.04. Funds on hand were $4,968.96.
