One election is on the April 28 ballot in Acadia Parish and it involves only three precincts and part of a fourth.
But officials in the parish Registrar of Voters offices will be handling early voters in that election beginning Saturday, according to Billie J. Meyer, registrar.
Fire Protection District No. 4 is asking voters along the northern areas of the parish to renew an 8.07 mill property tax for a period of 10 years.
The tax raises an estimated $649,635 annually used for ‘acquiring, constructing, improving, maintaining and/or operating fire protection facilities and equipment in and for the district.”
Voters in Ward 7, Precincts 3 and 4 (LSUE Health and Physical Education Building); Ward 4, Precinct 6 (Iota Highs School Lobby); and part of Ward 3, Precinct 2 (Richard Elementary School) will vote in this election.
Early voting will continue through April 21 — with the exception of Sunday, April 15 — from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. in the registrar’s office on the Court Circle.
Meyer reminds voters that proper identification is required during early voting. Voters should bring a current Louisiana driver’s license of ID card and voter identification card.
Voters who require assistance during early voting or when they go to their voting precincts on election day are required to bring a physician’s certificate or excuse stating the reason they need assistance.
This document is to be given to the registrar or to the commissioner in charge to be delivered to the registrar.
