Eunice cowgirl headed to national rodeo

Chloe Frey of Eunice has made a name for herself in the rodeo world.
This year at the Louisiana State High School Rodeo Finals held in Lake Charles, Frey was awarded the title of All Around Cowgirl for the second time in her high school career. At this year’s finals she was also named the Reserve Champion Barrel Racer and Reserve Champion Pole Bender.
Frey also received several scholarships including the J.D. Hebert Memorial Scholarship, a Corbin Carpenter Memorial scholarship and Louisiana High School Rodeo Association scholarship.
Frey added, “I’m so thrilled about all of my rodeo accomplishments and especially my scholarships. Hard work does pay off.”
Frey is a 2017 graduate of The Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau.
Hard work is what Frey does as she has been riding horses since the age of 2.
At the age of 5, Frey started competing at Acadiana Youth Rodeo Association rodeos. At the age of 11 she joined the Louisiana Junior High Rodeo Association and once in high school she joined the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association. At the age of 12 she started competing nationally.
Frey will make her sixth trip to compete at the National Finals in July. She will travel along with her horses to Gillette, Wyoming, where she will compete in the Girls Cutting, Barrel Racing, Breakaway Roping and the Pole Bending. According to the rodeo announcer at her State Finals, Frey is the first lady in Louisiana to ever qualify in four events for the National Competition.
Frey received a rodeo scholarship from McNeese State University where she will attend this fall. She will be a part of their Intercollegiant Rodeo Team.
Frey is the daughter of the Winston and Cindy Frey of Eunice.
