The Eunice Fire Department is holding a disaster relief drive for victims of Hurricane Laura.
Eunice Fire Chief Michael Arnold said, “We will deliver items wherever it is needed,”
The fire department is working with the Eunice City Marshals to help and assist with collecting and delivering to neighboring Hurricane victims.
On Tuesday, the fire department delivered dry goods and ice to Elizabeth and Mittie.
Ben Brown, a Eunice fire fighter, added, that the collection drive will continue until further notice.
The Eunice Fire department personnel delivered 4,500 pounds of ice to the Vinton Fire Department on last Sunday. Arnold said, “We also had a load in the back bed of my truck, which included Pedialyte, Gatorade, Powerade, and dry goods. This was delivered to a KC Hall and will be dispersed where needed.”
What is needed? Brown said, “Everything. One can bring non-perishable items.” Acceptable and suggested donations include non-perishable goods and items, female and hygiene products, clothing, shoes, gallons of water, packs of bottled water, baby food, baby wipes, baby products, pet food, toiletries, toilet paper, paper towels, Clorox wipes, batteries, etc. Monetary donations will be accepted also. “We will purchase what is needed,” said Brown.
Donations can be dropped off at the central fire station located on Park Avenue, in the parking lot behind the station. All donations can be dropped off from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Brown added, “We won’t turn down your donation. Once we have the 24-foot enclosed box trailer filled we will make a trip to hurricane victims.”
