Eunice Food Drive collects 7 tons of food, other items

The annual Eunice Food Bank Food Drive was held Tuesday.
Many families, clubs and organizations, churches, schools, businesses, were generous during this year’s drive.
According to Director Mary Ann Guillory, “We collected seven tons, 200 pounds of food items and staples for the food bank’s pantries.
The Eunice Food Bank will continue to accept items and monetary donations through out this year.
“Families are in need. Eunice has come through again as always with a giving heart!” said Guillory.
Guillory added, “This year’s food drive was great, the support from everyone who gave was very much appreciated. We had many volunteers here who helped out.”
Last year’s drive was a of food success with eight tons collected in Eunice.
One can still donate canned goods of every kind, corn, peas, yams, toiletries, diapers, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergents, dish detergents, soaps, toothpaste, deodorants, rice, flour, dried beans, pastas, sugar, coffee, tuna fish, noodles, cereals, corn mixes, juice, macaroni and cheese in boxes.
Monetary donations are accepted as well.
“We are here to serve those who are in need. Feel free to come by the food bank,” said Guillory.
The Eunice Food Bank days and hours include, 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The Eunice Food Bank helps to serve 250 families, on the average, per month. Guillory said, “Recently we have gained an additional 10 new members.”
