Eunice High garners a top ranking in annual report

When the 137 Eunice High students graduate this Friday they are doing so at a school ranked 63rd out of 311 high schools in the state, according to U.S. News & World Report’s rankings.
The top-ranked school in St. Landry Parish is the Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts. The school in Opelousas is ranked 18th in the state and 2,823 in the nation.
Eunice High is ranked 6,024 in the nation.
The 6,024 national ranking may look to be low, but U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on more than 23,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. More than 17,000 schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college, the Report’s website stated.
Other rankings in St. Landry Parish are:
— Opelousas Senior High School, ranked 132 in the state and 9,170 in the nation.
— Beau Chene High School, ranked 135 in state and 9,390 in the nation.
— Northwest High School, ranked 137 in the state and 9,530 in the nation.
— Port Barre High School, ranked 182 in the state and 11,998 in the nation.
— North Central High School, ranked 203-311 in the state and 12,935 to 17,245 in the nation.
The graduation rates for St. Landry Parish high schools are: 100 percent, Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts; 87 percent, Eunice High School; 57 percent, Opelousas Senior High School; 69 percent, Beau Chene High School; 64 percent, Northwest High School; 76 percent, Port Barre High School; and 62 percent, North Central High School.
Acadia Parish rankings are: Midland High School, 59 in state and 5,841 in nation; Iota High School, 160 in state and 10,938 in nation; Rayne High School, 199 in state and 12,779 in nation; Church Point, 203-311 in state and 12,935 - 17,245 in nation; and Crowley High School, 203-311 in state and 12,935 - 17,245 in nation.
Evangeline Parish rankings are: Mamou High School, 102 in state and 7,845 in nation; Ville Platte High School, 111 in state and 8,145 in nation; Basile High School, 158 in state and 10,854 in nation; Pine Prairie, 162 in state and 11,028 in nation;
