The following are from the April 1997 files of The Eunice News.
Dr. Scott Parks, a 1979 graduate of Eunice High School, spoke to the Eunice Kiwanis Club about playing bagpipes. Parks received his medical doctorate from the LSU School of Medicine in 1987.
LSUE Chancellor William Nunez was planning to attend the Eunice city council meeting to ask its support to keep LSUE as part of the LSU System.
The mural on the downtown Ardoin building was sparing a move for wildflowers in Eunice. The mural was painted by Robert Dafford, of Lafayette. “We’re going to plant wildflowers in the downtown area and mark them so that people will know what they are,” Charles Seale, Historic Downtown Committee chairman, said. Plans to spruce up 2nd Street in the downtown area are works by the Downtown Merchant’s Association, the article stated.
Tricia Fruge shut out the DeRidder Lady Dragons in a 10-0 Eunice High win.
The Eunice Baseball and the city issued a news release asking the public to turn the lights off at the baseball fields after use. Residents had been complaining about the lights being left on.
