The following are from the April 1997 files of The Eunice News.
The Eunice Junior Auxiliary was observing its 20th year. Charter members include Pat Bollich, Feetie Brown, Jackie Cashen, Kathleen Derbes, Louwanna DeVillier, Tot DeVillier, Lynette Feucht, Shelby LaHaye, Linda Husers, Laure LaHaye, Belle Manuel, Ann Regan and Janice Sikes. Becky Pucheu was credit in the story as being behind the start of Junior Auxiliary in Eunice.
Wesley and Jane Loewer were appointed as missionaries by the Southern Baptist Foreign Mission Board. The Loewers were to live in Kenya.
Diana Parks, secretary at Eunice Elementary, was honored by the Eunice Rotary Club as Secretary of the Year.
Councilman Louis Pavur hoped to keep the Cajun Prairie Restoration site at Martin Luther King and Magnolia. A lease with Union Pacific Railroad for the site had expired. The property’s sale price was $12,000. The issue was headed for the May city council meeting.
