The following are from the October 1996 files of The Eunice News.
About 200 residents were vowing a fight over “low-rent” housing on West Maple Avenue. There was a report that a letter had been sent to the state Housing Finance Agency stating the city government had no objections to the project, which was named Sweetridge Apartments.
New Kiwanis Club officers were James Tucker, secretary; Steve Ortego, treasurer; Randall Vigee, president; Dan Fontenot, president-elect; and Clint Bischoff, assistant secretary.
The Bobcats moved to a 5-0 season with a 25-8 win over the Tioga Indians. Scoring for the Bobcats were Jason Fontenot, Donnie Bollich and Edmundo Truitt. Stefan Tuchshmid made two extra points and a Derek Myers pass to Franco Guillory scored an additional two points for the Bobcats.
