A new program emphasizing character issues was launched at a meeting sponsored by the Eunice Ministerial Alliance. The first meeting was held at the First Baptist Church.
Colby Droddy of Eunice High School won the Class 4A championship in javelin at the state meet. Droddy was a junior. The Bobcat team placed 13th in the meet held in Baton Rouge. Droddy also won fifth place in the discuss.
Pam Joubert was named Coach of the Year at Eunice High School. Joubert coached the tennis team.
Teacher Appreciation Day honorees at East Elementary included Rowena Thibodeaux, Tracy Simon, Linda Guillory, Pattie Caswell, Joan Cotner and Ann Marcantel.
Dillon Kennedy, of Eunice Elementary, placed second at the Parish Math Rally. He was the only student from an elementary school in Eunice to place at the rally.
Local crawfishermen were reportedly under pressure from Chinese crawfish and drought.
