Juniors Leah Andrus and Caroline Aguillard were named to the first team 6-1A All District softball team.
LSUE Chancellor William Nunez was protesting a proposed 5 percent cut in the state’s higher education budget.
Eunice High softball players awarded major honors included Amber Darbonne, Blaire Fusilier, Jori LeJeune, Andrea Kramer, Sarah Hebert and K.K. Devillier.
A bill to allow concealed carry permit holders to carry firearms on school campuses was approved on an 11-3 vote by the Criminal Justice Committee. The bill was moved to the House floor. Rep. Mickey Guillory said he voted for bill, but also opposed it because once before the full House the bill would be defeated. But the bill could not be defeated in committee.
There were 149 graduates in the 40th graduating class at LSUE. State Sen. Nick Gautreaux was the speaker.
