The following are from the June 1976 files of The Eunice News.
A front page photo showed the Bicentennial Wagon Train Pilgrimage in Virginia and included Boo Ledoux, Pris Ledoux and Chip Brown on their way to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The photo was taken on May 31 and the Louisiana wagon had left Shreveport on Jan. 15.
Eunice High FFA members Tony Reviere, Wilvan Miller and Craig Fontenot were attend the state convention in Shreveport. The advisor was Carmen Miller.
Mrs. Marie Young, president of the American Business Women’s Association, was chosen as “Woman of the Year” at the annual supper held at the Oleander Restaurant. Mayor Wilson Moosa crowned Young.
Jantzen plant manager Ralph Cash presented a five-year pin to Diana Allison.
The Eunice High School Band Booster Club elected Herman Francois, president; Mr. E. J. Venable, vice president; Mrs. Edward N. Francois Sr., secretary; and Lincoln Thibodeaux, treasurer. Mrs.. Herman Francois was the reporter. Band director Randy Young announced that Michael Bellard was the winner of the John Phillip Sousa award.
