Youth Lock-in. The St. Thomas More Youth Group participated in a lock-in during the holidays under the direction of Yogi Sittig, youth director. The spiritual retreat was attended by approximately 70 persons. Sittig is pictured sharing guidelines and goals and purposes of the lock-in with students. Father Jules Arceneaux was the celebrant of a Mass held for the students and Matthew Paul Higginbotham, a seminarian, spoke on the seven keys to holiness. Craig Labbie shared his personal testimony with the group.
Jays defeat E. Beauregard; Jayettes fall to Lady Trojans. East Beauregard takes 35-33 win over Jayettes. SEH’s Amy Reilly and Tonya Zaunbrecher combined for 19 points Friday.
Fourth grade project. St. Edmund Elementary fourth-graders pose with some of the books they brought for their service project. Standing are James Leonards, Caroline Bergeron, and Andrea Castro. Kneeling are Kyle Smith, and Brad Martel.
Sixth grade project. Sixth graders Leslie Perrodin, Tiffany Hebert, teacher Candy Atteberry; and Joel Manuel inspect some coats at St. Edmund Elementary. The school’s two sixth grade classes collected clothes for the needy for their service project.
Rotary Board named. Board members to serve during the approaching year for the Eunice Rotary Club were elected Wednesday. They are, front from left, Rodney Sonnier, Ovelia Naquin, and Jacque Pucheu. In back from left are Donald Mayeux, president elect; Mark Seale, Mark Thomas, and David Greer. Board members not pictured are J.B. LeRay, and Shirley Vige.
Essay contest winners. The Eunice Junior Auxiliary sponsored an essay contest for fourth graders in each class at Eunice Elementary. The winners are pictured. In front are winners from Simpson’s class. They are Michelle Leger, first place; Erika Thibodeaux, second place; and Anitra Sanders, third place. Second row from Fuselier’s class are Corey Andrepont, second place; and Katie Duplechain, third place; Susan Sattler, first place winner is absent. In back are winners from Perkins’ class. They are Penny Dupre, first place; Jamie Shaw, second place; and Lee Daville, third place.
Monica Manuel and Molly Hill pictured. CJ Society helping the community. The Criminal Justice Society at LSUE is very active in community service projects. They were voted the Outstanding Club of the Year during 1991-92 academic year. The club co-sponsors DARE with the Eunice Police Department and often speaks to students about drugs and preventive measures.
Bobcats top Notre Dame, LaGrange routs Lady Cats. Strong second half lifts EHS over Pioneers. Dexter Monday tallied 10 points for EHS against Notre Dame.
Lake Arthur defeats Blue Jays, 57-43. Tommy Trosclair led St. Eds with 13 points.
SEH girls’ JV squad wins tourney title. SEH’s Holly Harris goes up for two against Basile.
