Guest speaker at Kiwanis. Craig Ortego, center, administrator at Moosa Memorial Hospital, was the guest speaker at Thursday’s Kiwanis club meeting at Restaurant L’Acadien. Ortego spoke to the Kiwanians about the various changes and programs he is helping to implement at Moosa. At left is Gerard Caswell, who was in charge of the program, and at right is club president Ronnie Ardoin.
Fundraiser. St. Thomas More Council 10428 of the Knights of Columbus is sponsoring a raffle as a fund raiser for the council. Gerald Boudreaux, above, is the chairman of the fund raiser and he is pictured with the burner assembly, a two-burner model, which some lucky ticket holder will be winning in April. The burner is presently on display at Auto Parts on West Laurel.
Jayettes bury A.B. Ware, 72-12. Ann Wall was one of three players who scored in double figures for SEH.
EHS hoping to match success of 1992 softball season. Lady Bobcats set for 1993 campaign. Last year’s 4-4A MVP Lisa Savoy will be hoping to lead the Lady Cats back to the state playoffs.
Employee of the Year. Gayle Myers has been named 1992 Employee of the Year at Tri-Parish Bank. Myers, who works at the Maple Avenue Branch, is a loan secretary and has been employed at the bank for the past six years. Leelen Lavergne, assistant vice president and Maple Avenue Branch manager, presented the plaque to Myers.
4-H Demonstrators. Sarah Swint, left, and Paige Thibodeaux demonstrated peach puff pastries at the 4-H Food Festival. They are students at Glendale Elementary.
Student Teachers. These ladies are student teachers at Highland Elemenary during the spring semester. They are Michele Fuselier, who teaches with Mrs. Spekschate; Katina Daigle with Mrs. Quirk; and Susie Courville, with Mrs. Bourgeois. All three are from McNeese.
Little Miss Louisiana. Johanna Lee Daigle, 5-year-old daughter of Darryl and Roxanne Daigle of Eunice won the Talent Contest in the giant ballroom of the Hilton in Baton Rouge on Nov. 26, 1992. She sang “Step into the Sunshine,” and tap danced her way to the title of “Little Miss Louisiana Talent Winner.” She is a student with Oliva Dodd’s Studio of Dance. She is the granddaughter of Thomas and Ozia LeJeune and Gerald and Lou Ellen Daigle, all of Eunice. She is also the younger sister of Scott and Jake Daigle and the olders sister of Lisa.
