Iota inventer Edward Boudreaux was noted in a story about his fan adjuster. The idea came to him through his work at a casino, he said. The story said his other inventions included the Cajun Fipper, a spatula for outdoor grills.
The Rev. Truman Stagg was the new pastor at First United Methodist Church in Eunice.
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were among the reasons for a delay in the completion of the Eunice Recreation Complex, but a grand opening ceremony was being scheduled on Sept. 4.
The American Legion honored boys and Girls State participants with a dinner. The students were Alexander Hollier, B. S. Turner, Bryeane Cormier, Madelyn Ortego and Amber Alborado.
Steven Menard of Eunice was named valedictorian at Iota High School.
Thomas Logan, of Central Middle School, received a National Beta Club award for his poem submitted to the national Beta Club magazine.
