Bihm wins parish title. Macy Bihm, a Bobcat Bruiser, is St. Landry Parish’s High School Student of the Year. Senior Macy Bihm, Eunice High School’s Student of the Year won the title of St. Landry Parish Student of the Year.
Sweep through the school. An Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 officer and his dog enter Eunice High School for a narcotics sweep on Thursday. Officers from Eunice, Iberia, Opelousas Housing Authority and a representative of LA K-9 of Abbeville teamed to conduct the search. Also assisting were the St. Landry Sheriff School Resource Officer and school staff. The sweep was requested by the school as part of its routine due diligence, officers said.
Just a little over. One of the Police Departments’ two new speed trailers notes for an approaching driver (not shown) that he or she is traveling six miles over the posted speed limit on LSUE Drive. The trailers are used to remind drivers of speed restrictions and allow them to compare their speedometer readings to the trailer’s reading.

“Tea Time for Parents,” at Highland Elementary. Highland Elementary’s School Counselor Philomena Bernard, standing, hosted “Tea Time for Parents” at the school Nov. 12. Bernard presented videos on parenting skills, special needs students, and grandparents as parents. Parents also enjoyed hot tea and other refreshments while viewing the videos. Parents attending the event included Jamie Smith, Glenora Thibodeaux, Melanie Daigle, Kasey Billeadeau, Candie Atchison, Doris Gillard, Marjorie Citizen, and Lance Citizen. Parents were also given helpful parenting brochures.
Edwards biography to hit stores on December 14. Discusses successes, shortfallings. The long-awaited bioigraphy on Louisiana four-term governor and Crowley native Edwin Edwards is scheduled to be released December 14.
Fire in the attic. Firefighters and first responders on the ground watch as a firefighter in the attic at 911 Park Avenue tosses a large chest out the window near where a fire started. The fire was reported just before 1 p.m. Monday.
