Child-bird case tops year’s story list. The alleged purchase of two children by a Eunice couple for $175 and a bird leads The Eunice News list of Top 10 stories of 2009.
Germaine Simpson takes the oath of office from City Attorney Jacque Pucheu as a City Council member. She was appointed to succeed her late mother Marguerite Simpson, serving until a special election, which she won. Her term expires, with other city officials terms, in December 2010.
Firefighter return to a rice mill after embers rekindle night blaze. An office building located inside the Eunice Rice Mill appears to be completely destroyed by a fire Tuesday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
