The following are from the August 1994 files of The Eunice News.
Sarah Summerlin and Angelle Fruge organized a march to protest against violence. The march began at the corner of 2nd and Peach streets and proceeded to City Hall. “We are try and reach one person,” Summerlin said. “If we reach that person it leads to another person and then another.”
Chad Manuel, Boyd Helm and Randy Miller spent the summer in Eunice working under the supervision of Dr. John Lassere. Miller is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jack Miller of Eunice. Helm’s father is a Baton Rouge physician. Manuel is the son of John and Geneva Manuel.
Sunny Vidrine was to relinquish her crown as Miss Eunice at a Saturday pageant at Eunice High School. Vidrine, 18, is the daughter of Terry Vidrine and Judy Pedigo, both of Eunice.
Emmanuel Baptist Church members broke ground on July 31 for the construction of a new worship center on Park Avenue.
