Julie Shaw, Eunice Police Department’s records clerk won the Eunice Rotary Club Administrative Professional of the Year Award.
The award was presented to Shaw during the annual luncheon at St. Thomas More Social Hall Wednesday.
Shaw was nominated by Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
It is the 33rd year the club has held the event.
Shaw was completely surprised with the award.
She won a free trip to Branson, Missouri, courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.
The letter from Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot nominating Shaw included the following.
“When information is needed, it is no accident that this is who we go to. When a particular document is needed, we call her. If you have a question about particular procedures in regards to the filing system, recording procedures for documents or just about anything else in the office, this is the person we contact.
“She is very knowledgeable of the office and its workings. She is friendly, polite and courteous and always offers her service to others while continually displaying these attributes.
“I have never heard her speak badly of others, speak harshly to anyone or criticize anyone. When presented with a problem, she always provides a positive solution.
“Others have repeatedly told me that she is their “go to person” in our office because of her pleasant attitude, working knowledge and willingness to help.
“I have had the pleasure and honor of working with my nominee in another office years prior. She exhibited all of these qualities in that office as well, which is why she now has her current employment.
“When she left our office for her current employment, I was still fortunate to call on her for information. Now I am one of her supervisors at her current office and have never been dissatisfied with her work ethics, attitude and her job performance.
“My nominee is deserving of all the credit she receives and she deserves to receive the award of Administrative Assistant of the Year for her many years of dedicated service.
“On a personal note, she is equally devoted to her family and friends. This devotion is exhibited through unselfish giving of herself to attend her nephews school programs and countless sporting events along with dog sitting. She also enjoys gardening and sharing her delicious talent in baking.
“I need not say more about her, because all who know her and have worked with her will agree with me when I say she is so deserving of this Award.
“The person I speak so highly of is Eunice Police Department’s Records Clerk, Julie Shaw.”
