More than 50 vendors participated in the first-ever Church Point Farmers and Craft Market on June 20.
Mike Burrough, one of the event’s organizers, said, “I am very happy with the turnout. The prices are good, there are plenty of vendors and the food is fantastic. It really is a success.”
The event was hosted at the Church Point Community Center pavilion. Vendors at the event were selling a variety of items including decorative wreaths, wooden crafts, bird houses, bath bombs, goat soap, homemade jams, watermelons, artwork and bird houses. Vendors were also serving several fresh foods, including barbecue.
Burrough said he hopes to host the event quarterly, and any future markets will be at the community center until work on The Depot is completed in the fall.
“I think people wanted to come out (this first time) to see what it was all about,” Burrough said. “I expect there to be even more vendors at the next one now that people have seen the first event.
He continued, “It’s nice to see people who can build things and put their own styles on it.”
Vendor Joy Daigle was selling homemade baby clothes, burp towels, desk caddies and aprons.
“The turnout is great for a farmer’s and craft market,” Daigle said. “Hopefully this will open the door for future things to come to town in this capacity and show what Church Point has to offer.”
Daigle said most of the vendors were from Church Point.
She continued, “It’s a good, family-friendly activity. Look at all the families here today.”
Angela “Pun” Cannon, her husband Junior Cannon and their niece Caitlyn Labbe were just a few of the people perusing items, and Labbe had purchased several bath bombs.
“We’re just walking around, enjoying the day,” Angela said. “We need to promote these types of events in the town.”
