The following are from the November 2001 files of The Eunice News.
The Eunice Bulb and Blossom Club was busy decorating Eunice with holiday colors. Included in a decorating party were Alberta Frey, Helen Tanner, Dee Deshotel, Yvonne Perrodin and Anne Lee Fontenot, Ruby Manuel, Yvonne Tujague and Lynn Venable.
Improvements to the St. Edmund gymnasium area were in the news. The sidewalk was being widened along with handicap access.
The results of a State Police investigation into Eunice Police pay irregularities was expected in December. An audit by Darnall, Sikes and Frederick found about $52,000 in overpayments in the prior year and another $4,000 in the current year before the system was changed.
‘Forever My Love, Music from the Bayou” was scheduled to shown at the Liberty Theater on Dec. 7. The film by Pat Mire included performances by Gerry McGee, Michale Doucet, Zachary Richard, Steve Riley, Sonny Landreth, Bois-sec Ardoin, D.L. Menard, Warren Storm, Rod Bernard, Geno Delefose, Al Bernard and Sam Broussard.
