The first baby of the year at Acadian Medical Center is Parker Reign Andrus born at 5:46 p.m. Jan. 1 and weighing 8 pounds and 9 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches in length.
The parents of the baby are Caleb and Bailey Andrus of Ville Platte. He was welcomed home by his older brother, Jude Andrus, 3-1/2 years old.
His pediatrician is Dr. Emily Simon of Opelousas, and the mother’s OB/GYN is Dr. Kayla Fontenot. Dr. Kayla Fontenot delivered the baby.
Bailey said that her due date was Jan. 10, so she and her husband were pleasantly surprised that Parker arrived early.
Acadian Medical Center showered the couple and the New Year baby with a gift basket that included baby formula, diapers, two baby blankets and two baby caps.
Caleb is employed as a heavy equipment operator for Prairie Contractors out of Opelousas, and Bailey is employed with the Evangeline Parish School as a fourth grade teacher at Pine Prairie High School.
