This is an update on the mission work done by former Church Point High School agriculture teacher Randy Miller. This article and the photos of Miller ran in the Mission Housing Ministries August 2017 newsletter. He can also be reached at ramillerag.wix.com/GoDonateMe.
The Mission House Ministries animal project in Guatemala is growing.
Randy Miller, the organization's stateside coordinator, was in Comitancillo for a week in June to visit families in the program and offer instruction on caring for their animals
As part of the family visits, Miller joined with a local veterinarian to provide vaccinations for the animals. It was slow work since the area that Mission House Ministries serves is large. The family may live in a village up to two hours away, and each visit can take 30 minutes. Even so, Miller and the veterinarian managed to vaccinate more than 30 animals during his visit. But there is more work to do. Mission House Ministries provides between 100 and 200 animals annually to needy families. Many of whom need instruction and help to raise them successfully.
The goal of Mission House Ministries is to expand the program and meet the needs of more of the people in the villages. The challenge is to grow in a healthy way, so that each animal represents not only an economic opportunity, but an opportunity to share the Gospel and build a relationship.
Miller is looking for people from all over the U.S. who are willing to be part of a small group of men and women to go to Guatemala to vaccinate animals. If you have an interest, reach out to him at: randy@mhm-guatemala.org or 337-580-2993.
