Church Point Mayor Ryan “Spanky” Meche has announced the sale of the Garan Plant. Ben Richard of Church Point was to close on the building.
The sale of the 72,000-square-foot, 28-year-old structure was first announced at the July 2019, meeting of the Church Point Town Council.
At that meeting, Meche acknowledged that the offered purchase price was below the appraised price, but added, “We’re sending crews out there to cut the grass. We’re sending crews out there to do maintenance. This is the first time we’ve been offered a substantial amount of money for it.”
The building was appraised at $324,000. At the July meeting, Meche said the town had been offered $200,000 for it.
