Eunice Police are continuing their investigation into the Dec. 27 shooting death of Scott Daville, 56, of Eunice.
Daville was shot after confronting a suspected burglar in his pickup truck around 5:30 a.m. at his residence in the 500 block of Juanita.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said, “This homicide has hit close to home for us all. Detectives are working very hard to piece together all evidence to insure nothing is left out or overlooked. We thank all of the citizens who have called in and provided valuable information into this horrific crime. The family’s cooperation with this investigation has been  invaluable and our prayers are with them all.”
The news release continued that lead detective, Lt. Robert Brickley does not believe the family was targeted intentionally, but due to the time frame of the crime the suspects were surprised by the homeowner.
Brickley is working in conjunction with several other agencies that are providing valuable assistance, Fontenot stated.
Brickley has that anyone with surveillance video operating before and after the shooting with something suspicious on it to call him at 337-457-6575.
Brickley also urged citizens with surveillance equipment to check to see that it is working properly.
If anyone sees someone breaking into a vehicle or property they should call police, he said.
“You don’t know what they are capable of,” he said in warning people to avoid directly confronting criminals.
“Someone’s life is not worth material things,” he added.
Anyone with any information about the crime is asked to call the Eunice Police Department at 337-457-2626.  All callers will remain anonymous.
