Honoring heroes

\The second biannual Honor Our Heroes Banquet, hosted by Unity Baptist Church and the City of Eunice, was held Thursday at the Northwest Community Center.
The aim of the event was to pay tribute to the hardworking men and women of local law enforcement agencies and for the officers and their families to enjoy a night of food, fun, and appreciation for their service to the city.
Several local businesses donated funds and in-kind items to contribute to the event’s success.
A jambalaya dinner prepared by Mayor Scott Fontenot, was served to the officers and their families.
Ric Nesbitt of KEUN 105.5 served as the emcee and provided music.
Local leaders, such as Jon Shows, pastor of New Hope Fellowship, Greg Gaspard, pastor of Unity Baptist Church, and local business leader Peter Vidrine were featured speakers at the event.
Exciting door prizes, such as Amazon Fire tablets, rifles, and tailgating packages were given away; in addition, each officer left with a $100 gift card to a local restaurant. Each child in attendance went home with a gift to thank them for allowing their parents to serve the city.
The organizers hope to continue hosting this event on a biannual basis to honor our local heroes and thank them for their service.
