LSU Eunice softball thrived in all three phases of the game as the Bengals took a doubleheader sweep of Galveston College.

The Lady Bengals (28-12) swept back-to-back twinbills for the first time this season.

LSUE used key hits and a Raegan Pilgreen (Ruston, LA, Quitman HS) complete game to take the first game 3-1, followed by a thrilling Gracie King walk-off in a 6-5 victory.

Olivia Hennen broke a 1-1 tied in the fifth inning as the Bengals grinded out a 3-1 win over Galveston College.

Hennen doubled home Maddie Leal for her second RBI of the day after a one-out walk from Leal.

The catcher came home to score on the next at bat thanks to a Rylie Candella ground ball to right field to make it 3-1 LSUE.

Raegan Pilgreen (8-2) took care of the final two innings, tossing her second complete game of the season.

The freshman allowed just one runner on the base in those final frames.

For the game, Pilgreen scattered just five hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

The lone run she gave up was a lead-off solo home run to start the game.

The Bengals worked in traffic in the second inning, getting a fly out and line out to squash a bases loaded threat.

LSUE also used a pair of highlight reel defensive stops from Jessi Cary, a third inning over the shoulder snag to save a run from the Whitecaps and a diving play in foul territory an inning later.

Hennen drove in the first run of the game for LSUE, answering the Whitecaps in the first with a sacrifice grounder to plate Sydnei Simon.

Gracie King (Winnsboro, LA, Franklin Parish HS) completed a come-from-behind victory for LSU Eunice with a walk-off triple in a 6-5 victory to complete the sweep.

Rylie Candella led off the inning with a line drive single up the middle, ricocheting off the Whitecap pitcher.

After Gabrielle Dupre pinch ran for Candella, King went opposite field with Dupre racing around the bases to set off the celebration.

LSUE dug itself out of a 5-1 hole beginning in the third inning. Olivia Hennen began the rally with a sacrifice fly to score Sydnei Simon, followed by a RBI triple from King. Karli Fontenot capped off the three-run inning with a hard hit ground ball to shortstop that allowed King to score.

Hennen tied it up an inning later with a RBI double to plate Katelyn Courville.

Kinsley Ashworth (6-2) held off the Whitecaps, tossing three innings of shutout relief to pick up the win.

The freshman gave up four hits with no walks while striking out three batters.

LSUE travels to Louisiana College on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
