LSUE’s season ends

CLINTON, Mississippi – LSU Eunice saw its season come to an end in the Region 23 semifinals after Jones College took a 100-74 victory on Wednesday at A.E. Wood Coliseum on the campus of Mississippi College.

The Lady Bengals (18- 4) fell in the Region 23 semifinals for a second straight season.

LSUE went toe-to-toe with the unbeaten Bobcats early, leading 8-7 halfway through the first quarter. Jones took control of the game, rattling off a 27-1 run for the final 5:38 of the first quarter and into the second.

The Lady Bengals would trail at the break 43-28 and get a final outstanding performance in the second half from Alona Washington.

After being held to just four points before intermission, Washington bucketed 22 points in the second half to get the Bengals at one point within a dozen.

Washington's 26 points ends her Bengal career with 674 points, the fifth most all-time in program history.

A 32-point fourth quarter for Jones sealed the victory for the top-ranked team in the nation.

The Lady Bobcats had three players score more than 20 points, led by Daisha Bradford’s 25.

Trinity Harold added 17 points for LSUE including five three-pointers.

Tahjea Smith chipped in 14 points.
