Mamou man arrested for on 10 counts of internet crimes against children

Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit has arrested an Evangeline Parish man on multiple charges of child pornography, and his team is asking the public for more information on the alleged perpetrator.
“Our office and law enforcement partners will use every tool we have to locate, investigate, and arrest child predators,” Landry said in a news release. “We want to bring those who exploit our State’s children to justice.”
Richard Deshotel, 47 of Mamou, was arrested on 10 counts of sexual abuse images/videos of children and two counts of sexual abuse images/videos of children (under the age of 13). He was arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail following a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Mamou Police Department, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Landry is asking the public to please call the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at 800-256-4506 if they have information or concerns regarding Deshotel.
