The Maple Avenue bridge may open as early as Feb. 26, according to information given to State Rep. Phillip DeVillier. The bridge at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Bobcat Drive has been closed since January 2017. The work included widening the drainage channel from 40 to 60 feet to about 100 feet wide. The bridge deck is about 80 feet east of the previous deck. The work also included easing a 90-degree turn in the channel to about a 45-degree turn, he said. The work may help alleviate flooding along the Richard Gully. The work was contracted through the State Department of Transportation and Development. (Photo by Harlan Kirgan)
