Sherri Zeringue McGovern has announced her candidacy for St. Landry Parish assessor in the Oct. 12 election.
McGovern stated she is a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish.
“I have been a certified public accountant for 19 years with many years of experience at a local accounting firm. I established my own private practice, which I have currently maintained part-time. In addition to this I have been employed at the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Department for 13 years and served as the chief civil deputy and the chief financial officer. I have also served on the Sales and Use Tax Commission Board. I have experience with other government agencies including the Assessor’s Office.”
She added she has been married to Steven McGovern and they have a son, Christian, 18.
She is a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church.
