Three main topics, including a full time post master at the local post office, were discussed at the Village of Pine Prairie’s council meeting on Thursday.
U.S. Congressman Mike Johnson’s community liaison, Jerrie Ledoux, was in attendance at the monthly meeting. While addressing the council, she shared that she had recently spoken with Mayor Quint West about the problems that the town has been facing concerning the post office.
Currently the post office only has a part-time post master, which has made it difficult for residents to receive their mail.
Ledoux then explained how the Congressman’s office could help with this issue. Ledoux said, “Our office can do Congressional Inquiry with the United States post office services to get a full time post master at the Pine Prairie Post Office.”
During the meeting the council also discussed giving Officer Benjamin Bordelon a hourly $1.00 raise. This discussion began at the last meeting; however, in September it was decided to hold off on the raise until they reviewed the finances of the village.
After reviewing the finances, the council made the decision on Thursday to give Officer Bordelon the hourly $1.00 raise.
