Renaissance Pep Rally celebrates success at Eunice High

Eunice High School celebrated its annual Renaissance Pep Rally Friday morning.
The event is considered an academic excellence celebration and its focus is on students who go above and beyond in academic performance. Students earning a 3.0 grade point average and above are awarded for their excellent grades throughout the year.
This year’s theme was, “It’s A Jungle Out There.” Along with awards, prizes, gift cards, free T-shirts, electronics, and grand prize gifts, students enjoyed live entertainment with music and line-dancing. Many sponsors and businesses, donate each year for the high school’s academic pep rally.
Students were recognized for GPA averages, ACT 22+Club scores, AR reading goals, perfect attendance, district literary rally, science and social studies fairs, All ‘A’’s awards, EOC test scores, AP Test awards, Most Improved students, Quiz Bowl, FFA, FBLA, honor roll, Top Cat Awards and Student of the Year.
Performances were presented by the Eunice High Emeralds dance team, cheerleaders, EHS Flag line team, and EHS Colorguard team. Spirit team leaders took over the lead of “Prize Patrol,” and at intervals throughout the program they threw different trinkets and treats to the student body.
Several students showed and sang their talents during the program. The included Syndi Lemelle, Karson Areyno and Bailey Trichell.
Student of The Year Abigail Miller, Teacher of the Year Alicia Bielstein and Support Person of The Year Jamie Smith were recognized and all received VISA gift cards.
Four drawings of electronics — Chromebook, laptop PC, HP laptop and Air Pods were given. Some of the drawing winners included Jace Miller, Lainey Miller, and the Grand prize winner was Phillip Matt, a senior. Matt received a Laptop PC.
