A full slate of strong musical entertainment is on tap for the 2019 International Rice Festival Oct. 17- 19 in historic downtown Crowley.
“We are very excited about the lineup this year. This is a big part of our festival that would not happen without our sponsors,” says Josh Spell, 2019 Festival Chairman.
Headlining the lineup this year is Marc Broussard, the popular singer-songwriter from Carencro who’s style is best described as “Bayou Soul,” a mix of funk, blues, R&B, rock and pop matched with distinct Southern roots.
Broussard will perform from 10 p.m. until midnight on Saturday, the closing act from the Supreme Rice Soundstage.
He will follow Gyth Rigdon, who returns to the Rice Festival after a runner-up finish on the nationally broadcast talent reality show The Voice.
Rigdon’s first Rice Festival performance was last year.
On Friday night, national recording artist Cupid is scheduled for 10 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. from the Cramer Equipment Soundstage.
Cupid — born Bryson Bernard — was born and raised in Lafayette. He has released four albums and is best known for the single “Cupid Shuffle.”
Also on Friday night, during that same time period, Crowley’s own Wayne Toups and ZydeCajun will be performing from the Supreme Sound Stage.
Other crowd-pleasers scheduled to perform during the three-day event will include the Chee-Weez, Geno Delafose and French Rockin’ Boogie, Colby Latiolais and Ambush, Dustin Sonnier, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, Jamie Bergeron and the Kickin’ Cajuns and more.
