Children enjoyed hunting for snails at the Eunice Community Sensory Garden on June 20. On a bright sunny morning several children helped to remove garden pests, snails. Hundreds of snails were removed. Snails were then relocated to the compost pile. After the organized hunt, children enjoyed fresh cold lemonade. The lemonade was sold to raise funds for the Sensory Garden. Participants of the snail hunt donated $1 to the Sensory Garden. The children’s event was hosted by community garden volunteers. A Sensory Garden stimulates the five senses. Sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell. The garden exists to benefit children and people with special needs. Picking out snails are Elizabeth Guillory, left, and Nikita Soileau. (Information and photo by Valli Soileau)
