On Sept. 11, Ardoin’s Funeral Homes in Eunice, Iota and Basile provide free barbecue plate lunches to all first-responders. Ardoin’s in Eunice had their staff and volunteer cooks on site that prepared barbecue pork steaks and all the trimmings, actually 225 plate lunches. Bill Wimberly is the general manager at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice. Ardoin’s has provided barbecue plate lunches since 2002. Wimberly added, “We honor those who serve, and we celebrate and remember all who selflessly served. We thank all who continue to serve in all capacities.” One of the volunteer cooks every year, Gary “Goose” Fontenot, paid a visit with his son, Mayor Scott Fontenot. (Photo by Myra Miller)
