The water supply system at the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area main camping area is no longer available to the public, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries announced.
The system was discontinued because it does not meet regulatory requirements set forth by the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals. Campers and other WMA users must bring their own water for drinking purposes, washing dishes and toiletry.
Sherburne WMA is located in the Atchafalaya Basin, between U.S. 190 and Interstate 10. The main camping area is located about three miles south of U.S. 190, off La. 975 and approximately 13 miles north of Interstate 10.
