The St. Landry Chamber of Commerce in partnership with St. Landry Economic Development will hold an Economic Development Update Lunch and Learn on March 19 at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino. The luncheon will focus on informing business owners and the public on developing projects across the parish.
The St. Landry Chamber plays a crucial role in building bridges between the business community and publicly-funded entities. An example includes the upcoming luncheon with St. Landry Economic Development (SLED) to educate Chamber members and the public on the work that SLED performs and how it can help their business prosper.
Raquella Manuel, president and CEO of the St. Landry Chamber, said, “SLED has several projects in development at all times. The Chamber has a responsibility to keep our members informed on which projects will affect them. As a private non-profit our organization works freely to develop resources and programs to help our members. We are also able to partner with our Parish Economic Developers and keep them connected to local businesses. Said Manuel.”
Bill Rodier, executive director of economic development, will present information on the many initiatives in progress. The Lunch and Learn will help inform members on changes in the community in order to prepare for major economic growth. Being informed on current and future plans for the community will benefit businesses and help connect them with key players within St. Landry Parish.
Taylor Lormand, economic development specialist for SLED, said, “St. Landry Parish is at a pivotal point in history, we are seeing momentum and development parish-wide and we are working on several planning initiatives which are creating interest from developers to choose St. Landry Parish. We want to update attendees on some of the highlights of these initiatives and make them a part of the equation as we grow together for the future.”
