St. Landry Parish Parish President Jessie Bellard announced Saturday that the parish would open a shelter at the Yambilee Building for residents without heat. The shelter will open at noon Sunday.  Anyone wishing to use the shelter should bring their blankets and pillows.  COVID-19 protocols will be in place at the shelter.
"We want to make sure that no one is left out in the cold," said Bellard.  "The parish has prepared for this event, and we are ready to assist our parish residents."
In addition to the shelter opening, the parish will have road crews on standby during the storm to clear downed limbs and trees and spread de-icing material on frozen bridges and roadways.
The parish emergency operations center will open Sunday evening and take calls about downed limbs and trees blocking roadways and roads that might be icing over.  To contact the emergency operations center, please call 337-948-3688.
The St. Landry Parish Courthouse will be closed Monday and Tuesday.
