Some familiar faces have assumed new positions at three LSN newspapers in Acadia Parish.
Also, Church Point News is bidding farewell to a long-time employee and editor. Carolyn Hart is retiring retiring as managing editor of the newspaper effective at the end of December.
“I have loved working in Church Point the past 21 years,” said outgoing editor Carolyn Hart who has been with The Church Point News since Dec. 2, 1996. “Sharing in the Town’s activities has been a rewarding experience, but I am ready for the pace of my life to slow down a bit. I wish Howie, the new editor, the best.”
“When Carolyn came to the Church Point News we always knew she was God sent,” said Liz Horecky, who has been with The Church Point News for 26 years. “Mrs. Di (Diana Daigle) was in the process of getting her stem cell transplant in Dallas. Carolyn quickly learned the schedule and has been a wonderful team player here. She will be truly missed.”
Taking over for Hart in Church Point is Howell “Howie” Dennis, a 10-year veteran editor at The Crowley Post-Signal. Dennis assumed the managing editor’s post in Church Point effective Dec. 11.
Moving into Dennis’ spot in Crowley is veteran newspaper editor Steve Bandy, who most previously was the managing editor at The Rayne Acadian-Tribune.
Bandy is no stranger to Crowley, having worked at The Post-Signal on two previous occasions.
In Rayne, Lisa Soileaux assumes the managing editor’s position. Soileaux has more than 22 years of experience at Acadian-Tribune, working in virtually every capacity from school news to lifestyle to sports and hard news.
