Mayor Scott Fontenot was advised of the closure late Friday evening.
State Representative Phillip DeVillier released information Saturday, via social media, concerning the closure as well, and said, “I have been informed that the Post Office will be temporarily closed starting Sept. 21, and from my understanding, the closure is due to a health issue. While cleaning takes place customers will be redirected to another location to pick up mail for those who have post office boxes. “As of now, the drop off boxes will remain in service.”
Rep. DeVillier did contact federal officials and has requested a temporary Eunice Post Office location to accommodate Eunice customers.
Rep. DeVillier did come through as a formal letter from Deidra Pierre, Louisiana District C&IC Manager, of US Postal Service in New Orleans, was addressed to Congressman Mike Johnson.
