Connie Thibodeaux took her oath as 4th Ward alderwoman Thursday morning and attended the agenda-setting meeting that day.
Thibodeaux was named to the seat at special meeting on Aug. 28 to fill the position vacated by the resignation of Dale Soileau.
Thibodeaux said, “I was very honored that they asked me to fill in the spot for the second time within a 22-month period. It is my privilege and honor to serve the city of Eunice and I’ll try to do my best.”
Thibodeaux was named to the seat in November 2015 after former mayor Claud “Rusty” Moody Jr. resigned in October 2015 due to failing health. Fontenot vacated the Ward 4 seat to serve as mayor.
She served until March 2016 when Soileau took the position after being elected.
Agenda items selected Thursday include:
— An announcement of a LSUE Performing Arts Concert by Freddie Pate on Oct. 6.
— An ordinance to increase the speed limit on South East Street from U.S. 190 to Maple Avenue from 25 mph to 35 mph.
— Approve liquor licenses for Dave’s Mini Mart, 1750 W. Laurel Ave.; and Mama M’s Fried Chicken, 1640 W. Laurel Ave.
— Accept the airport terminal project as substantially complete.
