Chataigner Mayor Justin Darbonne announced during the council meeting held on June 15 that he has appointed Alton Thomas to replace Sarah Fontenot to represent the village on the Evangeline Parish Solid Waste Commission Board effective July 5.
“I want to thank Ms. Sarah for representing the Village of Chataignier,” Darbonne said.
The mayor also reminded residents of the village that the free neighborhood testing for COVID-19 will return to Chataignier Elementary on June 29, from 8 to 11 a.m.
“It’s not only for the people here in town,” he said, “but it’s also for the people out in the rural areas like L’Anse Aux Pailles and Point Blue. They can all come.”
In other business, Darbonne announced the village’s budget meeting is set for 9 a.m. June 29.
