As of Wednesday morning there was no declared winner of the presidential contest.
According to Associated Press, President Donald Trump has 48.2% or 67,247,568 votes to challenger Joe Biden’s $69,892,239 votes.
The AP reported Republican Trump and Democrat Biden “battled for three familiar battleground states — Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania — that could prove crucial in determining who wins the White House.”
On the other hand, Trump won 56% of the 41,149 votes cast Tuesday in St. Landry Parish, according to unofficial returns on the state secretary of state’s website.
Turnout for the presidential election was 68.2% in the parish.
Former Vice President Biden won 42% of the parish vote in a field of 13 candidates.
In the state, Trump won 58% of the vote and Biden garnered 40% of the vote. There were 2,147,313 votes cast in the state.
In the U.S. Senate race, incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy won 57% of the parish vote.
Cassidy won reelection in the state with 59% of the 2,070,872 votes cast.
Turnout in the senate race was 64.5%.
Cassidy, a Republican, won 22,280 votes in the parish. The next closest candidate was Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins, a Democrat, with 18% of the vote.
Other St. Landry Parish vote tallies included:
— Incumbent U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins won 81% of the 1,481 votes cast in the parish for the 3rd Congressional District. Higgins won reelection with 68% of the 340,111 votes cast in the district.
— Incumbent U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson won 54% of the 18,744 votes cast in the parish for the 4th Congressional District. Johnson won reelection with 60% of the 306,348 votes cast in the district.
— The open seat for the 5th Congressional District drew 16,488 votes. Martin Lemelle Jr. won 29% of the parish’s vote followed by Luke J. Letlow with 26%.
Letlow, a Republican, is to be in a runoff with Sandra “Candy” Christophe, a Democrat. Christophe won 16% of the vote.
